Update: Basic Income Consultation in Milton – January 23rd, 2017

Please note we have rescheduled the December 8th Basic Income Consultation to Monday, January 23rd, 2017 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. See below to register and for more information.

The Ontario government has released Hugh Segal’s Basic Income discussion paper, titled “Finding a Better Way: A Basic Income Pilot Project for Ontario”.

While the Ontario government is using this discussion paper as the starting point for consultations, they are currently hosting basic income pilot consultations across Ontario to gather input on the design and implementation of the basic income pilot in 2017. The closest provincially organized consultations are in Hamilton, Kitchener, and Northwest Toronto.

We had to re-schedule the December 8th consultation in Milton to Monday, January 23rd, 2017 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. This consultation will take place at the Milton Bible Church at 200 Main Street East, Milton, Ontario L9T 1N8.

If people are unable to participate in these consultations, here are additional ways to share your feedback:

  • Basic Income Pilot: Public Survey https://www.ontario.ca/form/basic-income-pilot-public-survey
  • Email your feedback directly to the provincial government at basicincome@ontario.ca
  • There may also be a need for more consultations in Halton in the coming months and we are open to supporting any and all opportunities to discuss what a basic income pilot could mean  for us as well as gathering as many recommendations on design and implementation.

The province is accepting feedback on basic income pilot design and implementation until January 31st, 2017.
